Application Guidelines

  • You will be expected to provide both written descriptive text about the project and to upload photos of the project via the online entry form.
  • Your written text should include enough information to inform and educate the judges about why the project was undertaken; how problems were resolved; special treatments, processes or equipment used; and how the finished project was received by those involved. Quotes from owners, consultants and workers involved in the project are a plus.
  • Reference to specifications/design documents and product specs can also be useful to the judges in their analysis.
  • For technical categories, applications must make a persuasive case for how a project achieves durability/maintainability, energy efficiency, or other performance requirements of importance to the project.
  • For projects in which energy use and/or savings are considered part of the technical merit, applications should reference energy cost records, and include an endorsement/statement from the building owner.
  • It is advisable to include photos showing work in progress, but quality photos capturing the finished project are essential to the judges' informed analysis.
  • Because of the online submission process, you may want to have all of your support text and photos collected before beginning the nomination form; however, if you are unable to complete the nomination in one sitting, your application will be saved as you progress and you will be able to come back to complete it later.
